“It was really serendipitous,” says fine jewelry designer Megan Isaacs of her introduction to young ready-to-wear designer Katie Gallagher. “I was on vacation at the beach a few weeks before the show, and Katie’s stylist was actually staying in the same house—everything just came together.” “Everything” is a collection of white brass ear cuffs and hand braces, Gallagher’s first venture into jewelry for her very body-conscious, goth-infused ensembles and Isaacs’ inaugural designer collaboration. “The pieces are perfect for this collection because everything was very ethereal and about rebirth,” describes Gallagher of the delicate, web-like cuffs, tucked behind each model’s loosely swept-up hair. “I was inspired by dendrites in the human body, and was going for something lighter than I’d done in the past.” These dendrites—the tree-like extensions that branch out of neurons—take form in Isaacs’ black and steel constructions; they’re at once naturalistic and fantastical, a perfect addition to the slightly darker aesthetic of Gallagher’s futuristic designs.
