On Friday night at the Bowery Hotel, music fans, fashion types, and downtown scenemakers alike gathered to celebrate the launch of a project several years in the making—a new record label and collective, named Ingrid, co-founded by Swedish musicians Lykke Li, Miike Snow, Peter Bjorn and John, and Teddybears, along with fellow exports from their Scandinavian homeland. The event, which included a brief, magnetic performance by Lykke Li and members of Miike Snow followed by a silent screening of works by Ingmar Bergman, commemorated the group’s first release—a fifteen-track, genre-spanning compilation of sometimes folksy, often electro-driven songs submitted by each of the members of the collective in turn.
