PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING FROM INEZ & VINOODH

The celebrated photographer-couple Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin join the likes of Robert Frank, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Helen Levitt, and their own early inspiration Helmut Newton this week with a major exhibition at Stockholm’s Fotografiska photography museum. Entitled “Pretty Much Everything, 2015”—an update of their doorstop retrospective book published in 2013—the show collects over a hundred of their lively and often whimsical images, from portraits and collages to films and sculptures, and is organized by emotion and association rather than chronology to create a more intimate connection. Having worked on the boundary between art and fashion photography for decades, the pair are known for their ability to effortlessly jump from one art medium to the next. The new show, their first in Scandinavia, also showcases a sixty-minute loop of their music videos for artists such as Rihanna, Björk, and Lady Gaga, detailing the seamless blend of fashion, art, pop culture, and design that has been their free-spirited, energetic calling card.

“Inez & Vinoodh: Pretty Much Everything 2015” opens tomorrow and runs through September 27 at Fotografiska, Stadsgårdshamnen 22, Stockholm.
