SATURDAYS SUNGLASSES

With spring finally on its way and New Yorkers beginning to shed their layers to make way for new collections and launches that hint at warmer weather, the founders of the surf-inspired sportswear line Saturdays felt it was an auspicious time to launch their new sunglasses line as another extension of their brand.

For Saturdays, sunglasses seemed to be a natural next venture from early on. “Over the years, we have built a complete ready-to-wear collection consisting of denim, outerwear, knitwear, fleece, accessories, and footwear,” co-founders Colin Tunstall, Josh Rosen, and Morgan Collett say. “Sunglasses has always been the next step, but the quality we were wanting to achieve with our sunglass range was a long process that needed a tremendous amount of time and patience.” After two years in development, they feel they have now managed to build a “level of quality into each frame that is beyond any process.”

With the goal in mind of using the highest quality materials and methods of manufacturing available, there was no other place to look than Japan, with its famed focus on craftsmanship and quality. Each pair is made by hand, with no expense spared in the creation process. “Japan’s attention to detail is unsurpassed in making the highest quality sunglasses and eyewear in the world,” the co-founders explain. “There are ways to cut costs and work with manufacturers in various countries, but this was of no interest to us.”

The eyewear collection is essentially for everyone. In fact, the brand believes that the only criterion to be a customer is an interest in design, craftsmanship, and quality. “The design of the collection embodies elements for both men and women,” Tunstall, Rosen, and Collett explain, “creating a truly unisex collection of eyewear.” The line features six styles that vary from a simple clear frame to bolder tortoiseshell patterns, ensuring that everyone can find a pair that will suit them.

Saturdays sunglasses are now available at Saturdays worldwide and at SaturdaysNYC.com.
