SATURDAYS WEST VILLAGE

Just in time for summer, downtown surf headquarters Saturdays has opened a second location in the West Village, a small shop in a former coffeehouse on Perry Street just off Seventh Avenue. As in the Crosby Street original, the store is stocked with a full range of the label’s clothing and accessories, from graphic t-shirts and bright button-ups to retro board shorts and classic canvas sneakers, as well as surfboards, wetsuits, waxes, and assorted surf-related books and DVD’s. “Even though geographically its pretty close, in the perception of the neighborhood and consumers, it’s a completely different place to hang out and shop,” says co-founder Colin Tunstall of the new outpost, which opened on Friday. Also new this summer is a line of beach-ready towels, the perfect complement to Saturdays’ relaxed ethos and easygoing, no-nonsense aesthetic. And, of course, in keeping with Saturdays tradition—and the storefront’s old incarnation—baristas will be on hand all day to serve up a sharp espresso to keep you going on a busy summer afternoon, whether you’re headed out to Montauk or just back to the office.

Saturdays West Village is open now at 17 Perry Street.
