BEST OF MILAN MEN’S S/S 2013

And the show moves on. After the success of London’s inaugural men’s fashion week, attention moved to the old stand-by Milan, where even record-high temperatures couldn’t keep designers from showing long coats for Spring 2013, as can be seen from The Last Magazine fashion director Alastair McKimm’s top five looks of the week here. A number of designers toyed with wider proportions, as in Les Hommes’ billowing, blindingly bright white anorak, or Calvin Klein’s oversized denim jackets. The other major theme on display was vibrant colors, like the shimmering aqua lapel on a coat from Christopher Bailey at Burberry, or the bright blue stripe that ran down the legs of a pair of pants at a surprisingly stark Prada. Perhaps Miuccia was paying a bit of homage to the doyenne of minimalism herself, Jil Sander, who marked her return (for the second time) to her namesake label this week with a strong, dressed-up collection that reminded us just how much we missed her.
