FASHION GIRLS FOR JAPAN

One year after the Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami that devastated Japan and created an ongoing nuclear disaster in the Fukushima area that continues to this day, the resilient island nation is still struggling to rebuild and get back on its feet. After the wild success of their 60+ Designers/60+ Rolling Racks event last year, Fashion Girls for Japan will bring their enticing sample sale back to the Bowery Hotel again this weekend. Derek Lam, Rick Owens, Phillip Lim, Eddie Borgo, Thakoon, and Proenza Schouler are among the designers who have donated goods for the event, all the proceeds of which will go to support the Japan Society’s Japan Earthquake Relief Fund and the Home for All Foundation by KISYN, a collective of Japanese architects who are working to construct communal gathering spaces for the displaced. Menswear and an expanded range of accessories will be available this year as well, along with the womenswear that was so popular last time around.

Fashion Girls for Japan’s Second Anniversary Sample Sale will be open this Saturday, 12PM-7PM, and Sunday, 12PM-5PM, at the Bowery Hotel, 4 East 3rd Street. The minimum donation for entrance is $5, with VIP tickets allowing access at 11AM on Saturday available for $50. Tickets can be purchased at FashionGirlsforJapan.com.
