JAPAN BENEFITS

After the devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan a little over a week ago, many people have been left wondering what they can do to help from so many thousands of miles away. The fashion industry has responded the best way it knows how, with a series of events meant to raise money to support the relief efforts across the Pacific. You may have missed Opening Ceremony’s bash at the Boom Boom Room last Friday, but this week is full of many more chances for you to do your part.

Tuesday, March 22, 10PM: Justine D, Greg K, and Franco V turn their weekly Hurt party at the Bunker Club into a benefit with all proceeds going to the Japanese Red Cross Society. Sky Ferreira and Sebastian Kim are two of the night’s DJ’s, with decor by Confetti System and raffle giveaways from United Bamboo, Souen, and Lovely Day. Ten-dollar minimum donation.

Thursday, March 24, to Friday, March 25, 10AM-6PM: All proceeds from the 3.1 Phillip Lim sample sale, held at the company’s showroom at 260 West 39th Street, 17th floor, will go to the American Red Cross. Expect plenty of women’s and men’s clothes, accessories, and shoes, along with items from his children’s line.

Saturday, March 26, noon to 6PM: Alana Zimmer, Britt Maren, and The Fat Radish provide drinks and the restaurant’s famously tempting food at an afternoon fundraiser that aims to be a quirky, casual answer to the big uptown galas. Clothing and accessories will be auctioned off, along with beauty products and dinners. Bottles will be available for purchase as well, with all proceeds going straight to charity. Tickets are $100 each and can be purchased through info@thefatradishnyc.com.
