THE WHITE CUT

There’s been no shortage of Swedish imports on the music scene in recent years, ranging from jaunty indie bands like Peter Bjorn and John to Balearic electro groups like Tough Alliance and pop superstars like Lykke Li and Robyn, and this week brings a new player with a unique sound to the table. With a harder edge than most of the big-name Scandinavian acts, the White Cut—formed earlier this year from members of Snuffed by the Yakuza with Satan Takes a Holiday’s Fred Burman on vocals—offers up scratchy guitars and wild energy on their début double A-side “The Voice of God/Extortion.” With another pair of tracks planned for release every month through the fall, the White Cut, which also features Patrik Berger on guitar and brothers Magnus and Jens Åberg on drums and bass, respectively, should have no trouble fulfilling their promise of “sidestepping the establishment and shoving our message up your noses.”

The White Cut’s “The Voice of God/Extortion” is available now on Spotify.
