PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT AT INVISIBLE-EXPORTS

Beginning this Friday at noon, Invisible-Exports gallery is hosting a video festival, Public Service Announcement. Featuring pieces including Sliders from the Los Angeles collective Show Cave; a collaborative work from artists Lucas Ajemian and Julien Bismuth; and a piece from talented film portraitist Marie Losier, the festival is another in a long line of good reasons to visit the gallery (the opening of Mickey Smith’s new show of work next Friday will demand a return visit). The screenings will be shown until midnight on each night until Sunday, an hour destined to lure a somewhat less bookish audience. “The Lower East Side, Orchard Street especially, has different day and night populaces. We wanted to figure out a way to engage those who visit after-hours, the restaurant goers, the bar dwellers. Hence the video program, which is both whimsical and deadly serious in content–but hopefully one of those unexpected moments that makes New York worthwhile,” says the gallery’s co-director Benjamin Tischer.
