60+ DESIGNERS/60+ ROLLING RACKS

There has been no shortage of opportunities in recent weeks to donate money to support the relief efforts in Japan, but New York’s fashion community is coming together in an almost unprecedentedly united way this weekend with 60+ Designers/60+ Rolling Racks. A sample sale to be held both Saturday and Sunday at the Bowery Hotel, the event will feature a rolling rack of items each from over sixty of the city’s brightest and best-known designers, ranging from Alexander Wang and Altuzarra to Derek Lam and Eddie Borgo. The sale is being organized by Fashion Girls for Japan, a new collective founded by Kikka Hanazawa, the president of VPL, Tomoko Ogura, the women’s fashion director of Barneys Co-op, and 3.1 Phillip Lim’s Kyoko Kageyama, who experienced the earthquake firsthand, that aims to take advantage of the tightly-knit Japanese-American fashion community. All proceeds go to the Japan Society’s Japan Earthquake Relief Fund Cross, and the NYC’s Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Fund.

Advance tickets can be purchased for five dollars each at http://www.fashiongirlsforjapan.com/
