In our latest online exclusive fashion feature, photographer John Guerrero teams up with stylist Katelyn Gray for a celebration of individuality. A mix of professional models and street-casting finds wears a blend of new designs and iconic vintage pieces, reflecting a personal sense of style that speaks of personality and originality. “It’s as if they’re all cut from the same cloth, but they obviously have their own distinct personalities,” says Guerrero of the varied crew assembled below. “Despite the mishmash of characters, I feel there’s an underlying attitude that ties it together.”
Layering—both of clothes and, through collage, the photographs themselves—is reflective of today’s “inundation of images and information.” A postmodern mindset bridges eras and styles, as when, for example, Heather Kemesky in vintage Yves Saint Laurent trousers is seen next to Ted Le Sueur in a full Raf Simons look straight off his Spring runway. Studio shots intermix with landscapes to anchor a sense of space, offering a backdrop for each unique individual to shine. “We’re trying to cut through all of that,” explains Guerrero, “as each person had a presence.”
