THE LAST MAGAZINE DINNER

The Last Magazine added one more legendary meal to the long list of celebratory dinners that have taken place in the historic Indochine, closing out another frigid New York Fashion Week with an intimate event with Derek Lam and Kanon Organic Vodka. Prabal Gurung and Joseph Altuzarra joined Bonnie Morrison and Aaron Young for the satiating feast while gorgeous faces like Caroline Winberg’s, Joan Smalls’, Elisa Sednaoui’s, Anja Rubik’s, Maryna Linchuk’s, and Julia Stegner’s peppered the room. As the plates were cleared away and the guests stood to mingle, the party moved downstairs to Dominion, where Zara Zachrisson and May Kwok took up their spots behind the DJ tables as a crush of people stormed the smoke-filled dancefloor. The space was known as Undochine in the late ’80s, when it was the most exclusive spot in New York, a club reachable only through the restaurant’s kitchen and down what owner Jean-Marc Houmard calls “some very slippery fire-escape stairs,” ensuring no one could possibly know the partiers’ entrances and exits. Flash-forward to 2011, when the banquettes of the glowing red entry room quickly filled up with partygoers celebrating the end of the exhausting week, and the narrow hallway leading to the cavernous back room, which pulsated with lights and floor-stomping tunes, quickly became nearly impassable. Groups became separated, drinks were spilled, conversations were drowned out—but everyone was having such a good time it didn’t really matter.
