THE LAST PEOPLE – CONOR CLINCH
Ever since we began back in 2008, we have worked with photographer David Mushegain every issue to bring you a collection of some of the raddest people from all around the world. David shoots and gets to know the young kids he meets on his travels, through his friends, or just walking down the street, and we are always happy to share his discoveries with you. Our weekly postings of David’s Last People continue right here.
So when I first met Leanne it was over the Internet. I asked her to meet me the next day. I was talking to her on Facebook when I got a friend request. This request was from Conor Clinch. I accepted. He wrote me and asked me about photography and told me he was a young photographer there in Dublin. He then started getting real skeptical about what I was saying. He then told me that I was not actually me and he deleted me as a friend. Hahahaha. So funny. I asked Leanne what was up. She told me that he was freaked out because he thought I was a fake me. And then Leanne got sketched out. I said, just bring your friend Conor with you tomorrow and it’s all good. Bring whomever you want. Glad she did and so glad I met Conor. The kid is gold. He’s a photographer and he’s got such a good spirit. He captures all the cool kids around Dublin and has a cool hang while doing it. I loved seeing how motivated all these kids were to create and hang out and do cool stuff with each other. Conor loves fashion and is well-studied. He is a big fan, as is his whole crew, of Charlotte Free and I think the funniest thing was when they were like, “Oh my God, you know Charlotte Free!!!” That’s so cool. I was laughing. Not because that was lame but because it’s so cool to hear. Charlotte was stoked and is going to go to Dublin to meet the crew. Dublin is a bit removed and that I think is what has kept it so precious. I didn’t want to leave when I had to. And I just felt like I had met some new members of my extended family. And I think I did. I love these kids. Can’t wait to see what Conor does with his camera in the coming years. Conor sent this to me about himself. I don’t know if he wrote it or someone else. “He gets his inspiration from different types of people, their style, and their culture. Which not only influences his work but his personal style too. He is fascinated by the fashion industry and its lifestyle and likes to spend his spare time watching model documentaries or reading some of his favorite issues…” Awesome. I love it. There is hope for fashion and it’s coming alive around us. I photographed Conor on the corner of a busy street in Dublin over by a central bank. There was an Occupy camp in the background.
