THE LAST PEOPLE – LEANNE WOODFULL
Ever since we began back in 2008, we have worked with photographer David Mushegain every issue to bring you a collection of some of the raddest people from all around the world. David shoots and gets to know the young kids he meets on his travels, through his friends, or just walking down the street, and we are always happy to share his discoveries with you. Our weekly postings of David’s Last People continue right here.
So I’m sitting here typing and I have just got to the Dublin section. Dublin. Dubtown. Badass. I love it there and am going to spend as much time as I can hanging out there. Meet Leanne Woodfull. She’s rad. She’s got style. And she’s got a cool blog called ThunderandThreads.blogspot.com. She loves “anything retro, rock ‘n’ roll, and glamorous.” She is a “history buff, old soul, and lipstick junkie.” She told me she wants to move to London someday and conquer the fashion world. Leanne, let me tell you that you are the fashion world, cause all the people that have supposedly conquered it really don’t have too much clue and they look to awesome people like you to get what they can’t think of themselves and then they claim it as their own. I say that because I just want to encourage all of these super intelligent and amazing young creatives. They need to realize that they themselves hold the power. They are not subject to some outdated powerwhore editor. And I love that about now. I often hear people talking about how amazing the ’60s and ’70s were. And I think to myself, that’s cool but how amazing is now? It’s so so cool that we live in a time of instant everything. It’s so fun. And it’s even more fun when we can embrace instants, but with the respect of those who paved the way. Too many times in our business I see the amazing creatives cast aside for some disposable junk. I mean come on, why does Anna Piaggi not have her own magazine? She’s a legend. My mind is kind of running. But I am saying this for a reason. When I meet kids like Leanne I am inspired. I love her and her whole crew in Dublin. They have that respect and are so well-educated. Yet they have that spirit of now because they are now. I love that I met Leanne. Awesome. I have more of her friends to talk about too. So I am going to keep writing. Oh we shot this photo in Dublin on a street that I can’t remember. I mean I remember the street but not the name. Well I know it was in Temple Bar somewhere.
